21c Museum Hotels has begun construction at downtown Oklahoma City’s historic Fred Jones Building. The 97-year-old, four story brick building was built by Henry Ford as a Model T assembly plant. The redevelopment of this iconic industrial building will include 134 hotel rooms, a contemporary art museum and restaurant and bar inspired by regional culinary traditions. 21c Museum Hotels has announced plans to redevelop Kansas City’s historic Savoy Hotel and Grill, pending federal and state historic tax credits and private financing. The renovation and rehabilitation of the 125 year-old building would preserve the building’s historic features while creating a new space for visitors and residents of Kansas City to experience genuine hospitality, view contemporary art and participate in cultural programming.
21c Museum Hotels has turned its sights on Music City with plans to develop downtown’s historic 222 Building, located at 222 North Third Avenue. The 1890s era building is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, adding to the 21c portfolio of projects that bring revitalization through contemporary art to the downtown core.
21c Museum Hotels is eyeing Indiana, with plans to redevelop Old City Hall in downtown Indianapolis following the approval of city and other financing incentives. The project will include the rehabilitation of Old City Hall and the construction of a new addition on the adjacent parcel into a 21c Museum Hotel and unique tenant space. 21c welcomes the opportunity to re-energize this iconic building, creating a vibrant public space and supporting the revitalization efforts underway in the Market East district.
